Our Fuel Mix
Our renewable energy
At Neon Reef we intend that all the electricity we supply is 100% renewable, at no extra cost to you. Like most energy suppliers, our electricity continues to be purchased on the wholesale market, however it may be backed by the purchase of a Renewable Energy Guarantees Origin (REGO) certificate, which is issued to represent renewable energy from qualifying renewable generators. Simply put, this certificate helps to track and match our energy usage back to a renewable source which then goes back into the National Grid. We cannot completely predict our total demand for each year and there may be occasions where the purchase of certificates may be more or less than the annual demand. We do of course remain committed to ever improving green generation.
Our Fuel Mix
To learn more about the mix of fuels we use to generate electricity and the impact this has on the environment, see the below table showing how we produced electricity from 01/04/2020 – 31/03/2021. We keep the figures on this page updated in line with the publishing dates of the government’s fuel mix data disclosure data table, as defined in the Electricity (Fuel Mix Disclosure) Regulations 2005. We note that in this year there were not enough certificates purchased to ensure the energy supplied was 100% renewable – as a consequence we will purchase additional certificates for the year 2021-22 to offset this shortfall.
UK Fuel Mix
Carbon Emissions CO2 g/kWh
Radioactive waste g/kWh
Please note, figures are rounded
Carbon Dioxide Emissions (g/KWh): The weighted average of the carbon dioxide emitted in the production of electricity from each fuel source. This is calculated based on figures provided by BEIS (details of these can be found here).
Radioactive Waste (g/KWh): The radioactive waste, being fuel burnt in the reactor to be subsequently discharged as spent fuel. This is calculated based on figures provided by the BEIS (details of these can be found here).
